Jessica Simpson Knocks Off Christian Louboutin
Leafing through the current issue of Elle, the one that happens to boast a naked and pregnant Jessica Simpson cover, I stumbled upon a Jessica Simpson shoe ad. Now, that isn’t strange, given that she’s on the cover and that her clothing lines bring in over 1 billion in sales. What is strange is that her ad features her Evangela sandals, which are a color for color rip off of Christian Louboutin’s Staratata sandals. 
Now, I only noticed the ad myself because I nearly bought the Staratata sandals two years ago in 2010, after noticing them in two different features in Elle, coincidentally. I needed a pair of shoes for my senior thesis art opening and I wanted a statement heel. I ended up passing on them as they weren’t on sale and I had run myself nearly broke from framing my photography pieces. From time to time, I still search for the Staratata’s in blue.

What I find kind of hilarious and deeply puzzling is that Elle featured these shoes, multiple times in various editions of their magazine, and yet they chose to run this particular ad, where the shoes are clearly knocked off. That’s a pretty large oversight on someone’s part because I noticed it. Maybe the people over at Christian Louboutin did too; even though they’ve got their hands full with their trademark red sole case against YSL.
